¡¡¡¡
¡¡¡¡The oily sludge and scum discharged by sewage treatment plant in petroleum and chemical factory are of the characteristics of highly-moisture content,fully-emulsified, hard to degrade and harmful. Environmental pollution may beinduced by untreated oily sludge and scum. Therefore, in order to reduce pollutants amount, to get clean and harmless waste, and to avoid further environmental pollution,the treatment of above pollutants is very important in any sewage treatment plant.

¡¡¡¡A petroleum and chemical company faced to the problem that the treatment charge for oily sludge was too high, which was due to the lack of sludge drying part in oily treatment system. Therefore, a new oily drying system was needed to solve this problem. According to the technical-economic indexes and application efficiencies, bidirectional shear wedge fan blade sludge drying system, belt sludge drying system, turbine thin layer drying system, and low temperature vacuum drying system were compared with each other and the last one was chosen for its’ low cost and operation fees.

¡¡¡¡Considering the specific circumstances of this sewage treatment plant, a process of thickening and dehydration – demulsification – centrifugal dewatering – sludge drying was designed to fit to the existing sludge pretreatment system. After continuous technical optimization, the new process ran well and stable at the drier outlet carrier gas temperature of 95~120¡æ, gas scrubber entrance pressure of -0.15~-0.1kPa and exhaust oxygen percentage of lower than 2%. Under the above conditions, the moisture content of oily sludge was less than 15%, which reduced the sludge volume remarkable.

¡¡¡¡Analysis indicated that the main chemical elements in dried sludge were aluminum, sulfur, iron and silicon, while the heat value of it was 11.9 MJ/kg~15.6 MJ/kg, which was close to the wood and made it of recycling value. The gradinganalysis indicated that its D 50 was 163 μm, which made the dried sludge easy to burn.

¡¡¡¡SEM scanning result suggested that more holes appeared in sludge after drying. Moreover, thermogravimetric experiment investigated that the ignition temperature was about 260 °C, and violent combustion temperature was 312.98 °C.The calibration of accounting indicated that the operation cost for sludge in moisture content of 69.27% decreasing to 13.33% was 99.83 yuan/t, which could save 8,230,000 yuan a year, reducing sludge amount effectively and costing low,which also benefitted environment.
